Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part One)

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there. I recently went on holiday to New York and over the next few weeks I'm going to share all the cool things I did while I was there. Since I was there for a week, this is going to be a seven part series, a post for each day. So, let's get started!

Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part One)

I love this city. That's the first thing I'll say. As soon as I left that airport and got into the city, I was so happy. It was everything I ever dreamed it'd be. Overall, my week's trip to New York was amazing.

We landed at JFK airport at about 4pm local time, after a long seven hour flight with American Airlines. The in flight entertainment and food was good, this was our meal:

The excitement hit most when we were flying over the country and saw the ground from the window of the plane; we were nearly in New York!
Pretty cool view right?
Because we arrived fairly late, all we did on the first day was land, get to our airbnb, which was a lovely little flat in Brooklyn (a great borough by the way, would definitely recommend) and go and grab some snacks from on of the stores on our street.
A nice view on the way
Our first day there was a great experience of the city, and we sat in our room planning the week and what exactly we would do the following day.

My post for Tuesday will be up next week, so make sure to follow my socials to keep updated!

Curly Cooks: Victoria Sponge

Since we're all stuck inside for lockdown, many people are currently baking to pass the time, including me! So, Curly Cooks is a series on the various items that I'm making while on lockdown, most of which will carry personal stories. Today's recipe is the simplest of simple British bakes: Victoria Sponge. Curly Cooks: Victoria Sponge Everyone knows and loves victoria sponge: it's a classic afternoon tea staple, and if you've never made it, now is the time! It's super easy and it's an instant crowd pleaser. Let's get into it. Jump to recipe First, gather your ingredients: In order: sugar, margarine, vanilla extract, baking powder, eggs, self-raising flour Measuring the ingredients is easy, if you don't know the exact amounts, or if you want to increase or decrease the quantity, then weigh the eggs, and use about the same weight of everything else. For example, my four eggs weighed around 235g: So minus the ...

Curly Hair, Been There: The Louvre

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there.  Paris: The Louvre    So I went to the Louvre last week and I have some thoughts.  It was a nice day and outside, with the famous pyramids and the impressive building, it was a really nice welcome to the landmark. I mean, the whole thing of the Louvre is that it's all nice to look at and it definitely was. I mean, the armed police and street sellers trying to flog their tickets were not so enjoyable, but the rest of it was a lovely introduction to the spectacle.  It's very impressive inside as well, the entrance is like a cave and then there are different passages going to different places and it's really cool.  I will say that it's a little confusing. I had a map, but if you think I can find my way around with or without guidance you are sorely mistaken. I got lost pretty much instantly. I was wandering around statue...

Curly Hair, Been There: Disneyland Paris Summer of Superheroes

If you didn't already know, I live in Paris and I love all things Disney. So, naturally, I have an annual pass and go up there as much as I can. This summer, it's all things Marvel! I went yesterday to check out #StudioHero and review all of the super festivities (get it??) Disneyland Paris: Summer of Superheroes All of the superhero stuff is in the Studios Park, rather than the main park, but it's still really cool. You walk in and the first thing you see, before walking through the studio, is this massive Captain Marvel Statue:  And that's just the start. In the production courtyard, there are three more huge statues, of: The Hulk Black Panther And Iron Man. It's pretty cool to see all of this, and exciting to see your favourite heroes but bigger and better.  The decor isn't the end of the fun though! There's the opportunity to meet three big heroes: Captain Marvel, Captain America, and Spiderman. I met Captains Marve...
