Curly Hair, What's in There? : Shaving

You might be wondering: what has shaving got to do with anything? Well, I got news for you. It's a big topic right now. And I have opinions. Let's get started. Curly Hair, What's in There? : Shaving Some people have asked me recently why I've stopped shaving under my arms. My answer: it's for nobody but my damn self.  I'm still shaving my legs, because I feel a lot more comfortable when they are shaved. But, under my arms somehow doesn't matter as much. It started from a couple of Instagram accounts I started following, called @bodyposipanda and @florencegiven . Megan Crabbe is an advocate for body positivity and being comfortable in your own skin, and she is such an inspiration. View this post on Instagram I will probably go out screaming this until I run out of breath but: YOU WERE MADE FOR MORE THAN HOW YOU LOOK. • You were not put on this earth to chase the beauty standard. You do not...

Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part Four)

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there. I recently went on holiday to New York and over the next few weeks I'm going to share all the cool things I did while I was there. Since I was there for a week, this is going to be a seven part series, a post for each day. Thursday was short and sweet. Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part Four) Thursday was a very chill day. We got up late, and got the Staten Island Ferry over the river. We did get the 11am service, but luckily for us there were no illegal alien enhanced weapons deals happening. although it would have been cool to have seen Spiderman! It was a very busy journey, but it was cool to see the city from the water, and see the Statue of Liberty, albeit from afar.  I didn’t realise how huge it is, I’ve seen the replica in the Luxembourg gardens in Paris, but that one is pretty small, and the one on the Seine is also s...

Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part Three)

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there. I recently went on holiday to New York and over the next few weeks I'm going to share all the cool things I did while I was there. Since I was there for a week, this is going to be a seven part series, a post for each day. Day Three awaits! Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part Three) Wednesday was possibly the best day, because it was the day I went to Broadway. Okay, I know I went to Broadway on Tuesday, but this time was better because I actually saw a show and it was amazing. The show wasn't until 2pm, so the day started slow since we had such a busy day on Tuesday. We got a cheeky Dunkin' Donut and I got this insane frozen coffee: This was a MEDIUM It was very tasty, but an unmentionable number of calories (it was 900). We headed up towards broadway on the subway and stopped at Rockerfeller Center for some sightseeing. We s...

Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part Two)

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there. I recently went on holiday to New York and over the next few weeks I'm going to share all the cool things I did while I was there. Since I was there for a week, this is going to be a seven part series, a post for each day. So, let's dig into day two! Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part Two) The second day was a lot more eventful than the first. First thing I did was get up and go to the deli down the road, on the hunt for rugalach. However, I got there too early and they weren't ready yet, so I just got these massive amazing cinnamon rolls: We went out and explored a bit; the first thing we did was go and find the 78th precinct, or as most people know it, the building from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. While it was just a building, it was pretty cool to see the building we all recognise so well: I was pretty overexcited and...

Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part One)

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there. I recently went on holiday to New York and over the next few weeks I'm going to share all the cool things I did while I was there. Since I was there for a week, this is going to be a seven part series, a post for each day. So, let's get started! Curly Hair, Been There: New York City (Part One) I love this city. That's the first thing I'll say. As soon as I left that airport and got into the city, I was so happy. It was everything I ever dreamed it'd be. Overall, my week's trip to New York was amazing.  We landed at JFK airport at about 4pm local time, after a long seven hour flight with American Airlines. The in flight entertainment and food was good, this was our meal:  The excitement hit most when we were flying over the country and saw the ground from the window of the plane; we were nearly in New York! Pretty cool view...

Curly Hair, Been There: Lille

Curly Hair, Been There is a segment that explore the different places in the world I have been, and my experiences there. Living in Paris is interesting enough, but feeling spontaneous I decided to travel to a different city. So, I went to Lille for a day. Curly Hair, Been There: Lille I took a Thalys train from Paris Nord to Lille Flandres, which took just over an hour and cost me only £18. I got up suuuper early and I arrived in Lille just before 10am.  I left the station (massive and cool btw) to be greeted by this lovely sight: It turns out there was some Hispanic celebration going on (dorado something or other) and so there was lots of cool decor everywhere. Not only were there those statues, there were also these ribbons: and these ofrendas:  I walked over to the shopping mall, Euralille, (huge) because of course I needed a coffee, so I sat down in Starbucks and planned my day. I decided that from the mall I'd go and find the main sq...
